Bunny’s Reads: For On The Coffee Break

I have been pretty busy lately and we are trying to get back on a schedule with Bunny. Thumper has a ton of work and I have been doing more reading than writing in my free time.

Not to worry, Bunny hasn’t gone anywhere.

Now I would like to share with you some of my favorite blog sites that are perfect for such times as when you’re taking a coffee break. These sites have been very helpful to me for staying updated on the world events and my own personal interests.

They are not in any chronological order.

1. The Huffington Post

The Huffington Post blog is always a great read and has a little bit of everything from politics to entertainment. I gathered a lot of inspiration to write a couple of articles after reading this site.

There are several good articles on current events with the presidential candidacy, Wall Street (of course), Sarah Plain issues and Prez Bush and facts and humor. Not that there would be such a difference between the two.

2. Bookstove

Bookstove is a great literary site to read short reviews of books you may be interested in. I love reading the reviews and commenting on my favorite novels like The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway’s Old Man and the Sea.

Then I found a review on the Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams. How could I have missed out on reading this book. It sounds fascinating to me.

3. The Positivity Blog

This personal development blog is great for giving you positive feed in business and life’s adventures. I especially like the guest post by Michelle L. Castro, Happiness is a Decision.

The Positivity Blog is wonderful because it is written so “matter of fact”. There are some great articles making you aware of what logical philosophy to use, or adapt, for a better understanding of life.

4. Quotiki

Quotiki is an awesome site for quotes. You can read and vote on quotes.

This quote is by English children author Terry Pratchett. He received the Carnegie Medal for The Amazing Maurice and His Educated Rodents.

I’ll be more enthusiastic about thinking outside the box when there’s evidence of any thinking going on inside it.

- Terry Pratchett

I love that!

This quote by media tycoon Ted Turner is pretty cool too.

Life is like a B-movie. You don’t want to leave in the middle of it but you don’t want to see it again.

- Ted Turner

5. BizChicksRule

This blog is one of the best blogs for women I have come across. The articles are very common issues we deal with daily.

You will find several experienced women authors and guest authors. Business women and entrepreneurial women who want to share informative articles such as  handling client challenges, or The Do’s and Don’ts for a Mommy Biz Chick .

Also, the Virtual Woman’s Day Celebrations Blog has compiled a list of 73 Women Bloggers earlier this year, if you’re interested (yes, Bunny got featured too! I wrote about it here.)

6. The Incurable Romantic

I still strongly recommend this site, The Incurable Romantic. Both authors are well into the emotional core of what it takes have a successful relationship and be a better person. Marc gives a male perspective, and Dawne - what can I say to cover this remarkable woman’s courage to share her life and survival. They are a devoted couple that touch upon intimate subjects.

Dawne has also shared some beautiful poetry and humanitarian awareness we should all use daily.

This is one of my favorite poems that I first read a couple of years ago, and Dawne featured on The Incurable Romantic as well:

Love seeketh not itself to please,
Nor for itself hath any care,
But for another gives its ease,
And builds a heaven in hell’s despair.

- William Blake

You will find more poetry along with this one, in Dawne’s article How To Tell If You’re In Love.

Well there you have it. My daily reads. If you have any new sites that you think would interest me, please let me know. And I hope that I was able to point you to one or two gems you didn’t know about yet!

Did you enjoy reading this post? Give some love back!

The Huffington Post is a nice site indeed. It’s one of the most popular blogs around.

The others you mention look great too, I’ll be sure to check them out. Including #5 which I know already. I think Ross has to explain why he wants to pass on that ;)

Apparently Robert thought that “This blog is one of the best blogs for women I have come across” REALLY meant “This blog is one of the best blogs for women *and Robert* I have come across” ;)

Ross, I rather meant to inquire whether you’re afraid of a little female authority - based on what I understood was your overhasty categorical preclusion of a site you hadn’t looked at before ;)

ahhh ok I see where you’re coming from! I thought maybe you were implying I was girly! (insert proud-stick out chest maleness here) - it’s an Aussie thing…

I don’t have anything against women in business at all! My blogroll links to several women in business sites…….

Guys…..

What little I know of you both. I am honored you read Bunny.

Both of you are supportive of women issues.

Thanks for stopping in
