I’m in a playful mood to night. As usual, Thumper is working. I’m chilling with a glass of wine and having a relaxing evening at home – while listening to music. Tonight I am in the mood for some classic, ageless oldies and a bottle of aged Merlot with my trusty dog, Bear. He is more a beer guzzling dog but since I am not in the mood to go to the basement he has to settle for water.
I have noticed a few of the blogs I follow have been adding music from time to time. So I thought I would give it a try. Pour yourself a glass of something nice and join me! The last time I drank Merlot – just ask Thumper about it – was the last time I sang to him. This first song has a special meaning to us. It has always been one of my favorites and has become that even more since – well – the good memories from the last time I drank Merlot.

The Pretenders – Brass In Pocket
Chrissie Hynde has a deep sultry voice. She is the only original member of the Pretenders. Chrissie has always had her own style which complements her powerful voice.
I hadn’t watched a video of the Pretenders until tonight. This one has been saved to my puter because of Chrissie’s “girl next door” sex appeal. Just notice the difference that clothes make. This is what I like to see!
Sade – Smooth Operator
I love this song! This girl has class and sophistication written all over her. By the way, all the women in this article are over 50, with the exception of Sarah McLachlan. Sarah is 41.
Carly Simon – You’re So Vain
Oh yes he is! Only kidding
Well maybe not.
Sarah McLachlan – Answer
This song isn’t that old but it is so beautiful. Sarah has the purest most angelic voice I have ever heard. This particular song is one of my tear jerker songs because it reminds me of my beloved Thumper and it is even more so after a glass and a half of Merlot. Snap out of it! We will remain happy here. No tears allowed.
Carole King – So Far Away
Wow – I am feeling so good. I think I miss my mom. You can tell I am listen to her songs now.
Billy Joel – The Piano Man
Billy Joel comes to mind when I think about home. Love this song brings back great memories with the folks.
Now how did Billy Joel end up in this list? Well… he is in good company! And what are your favorite songs?
