With Election Day over, I hope everyone enjoyed this past week. I was thrilled about the outcome of the Presidential race. And I believe Barack Obama is absolutely the man for the job.
I have been reading some opinions on other blogs. Many of which are emphasizing on President Obama’s Heritage, and proclaiming they were expressing themselves as being black by voting for him. In this country, which has been noted as the melting pot of the world, it has been long overdue for change - not only due to race or gender though.
I, as a woman, was insulted with the first female candidate being Sarah Palin. Her credibility and ability to handle the duties of the Vice President’s office soon became obvious.
It is my opinion she was expected to win the women’s vote only because of her gender, and the men’s vote by acting flirtatious. A fatal misconception by the Republicans. Palin is not the All-American woman. She does not represent today’s business woman. The only thing she has in common with me - we both have a vagina.
In the most recent years, Colin Powell and Condoleeza Rice have made a significant difference in our country. I feel Powell and Rice shared an influence of erasing race and gender issues for the future.
Colin Powell
This is a man who has made history several times being the first African American to become a General in the Untied States Army. He was the first African American to serve as a National Security Adviser from 1987-1989. Then he went on to make another mark in history: Powell was serving Chairman of the Joint Chief of Staff between 1989 and 1993, as well as Secretary of State from 2001-2005 as the first African American to hold these positions. In my eyes, Colin Powell exceed most men in his patriotism and duty to this country. A truly honorable American Hero.
Condolezza Rice
Condoleeza was the first woman to serve as National Security Adviser from 2000-2005. In 2005, she became the second woman to be the Secretary Of State, and the first African American woman to hold the job.
It is my opinion she has done a wonderful job serving us, the people of the USA. She is admirable and versatile. Truly a woman who has made a difference in our country.
I was in total disbelief when Sarah Palin became the Republican Party’s nominee for Vice President. Comparing Palin to Rice is like being on the Côte d’Azur, southern France, on the beach with your beloved one, watching the sunset and enjoying a fine lobster with mimosa dressing. And then, you ask for ketchup.
Barack Obama
Congratulations Sir! Our glasses were held high in celebration of Obama’s victory on Tuesday evening. I can only say I am very proud and happy that Barack Obama has won. I feel our country has always been in better standing when the Democratic Party is in charge. (If you think differently, please do not hesitate to engage me in the comments!)
I feel his Obama’s political career has been well handled and his campaign managed very professionally. I was disappointed he didn’t pick Hilary Clinton as his running mate. She has always worked hard for the people. Nevertheless, Biden is fine with me.
Here are some photos America’s utterly cool president. Also, check out photos of the world’s reaction to Obama’s victory.
Farewell to the Bush Administration
I am not sure if my dancing in the street and screaming “Yes!” would be enough of a message I would like to send to the Republican Party and Mr. George Bush.
Eight very long years under their leadership have been a living hell. Many people losing their homes and retirements. Not to mention family members who have lost lives in the Middle East.
The biggest attack on America was on September 11, 2001, resulting in a war with Iraq. Who had nothing to do with the attack in the first place. The supposed focus was to wipe out global terrorism and find weapons of mass destruction. I do not need to elaborate on this. No weapons found. Instead: oil. Oh well, we’ll just take that then.
I am going to step over the line here by saying I have to wonder if it was more personal for George W.. Since Bin Laden has not been captured. But Saddam Hussein has been and executed - he was a monster, yes. I have read in several articles at the time of the Gulf War that George Bush Sr.’s life had been threatened by the Iraq President.
George W. Bush has been my president most of my adult life. I haven’t been happy with most of his decisions. While he was not convincing as our leader and chief, I do like First Lady Laura Bush very much. She has accomplished much with providing better education. Although their home state of Texas needs a bit more ethics in education.
So George, I wish I could say it was a pleasure. Unfortunately I cant. Adios, Mi Amigo.
I’d like to share some “>humorous pictures of George W. Bush I came across on the Spiegel Magazine. Do take a minute to look at these, if you like.
And finally, here is a song for you. Let it roll while you write me a comment below
