This year I wanted to try something new. I decided I would ask fellow bloggers to write a guest post here on Bunny Got Blog. And Bunny’s first guest author is Jessie Konopa from The Hungry Mouse, who happens to have a wonderful blog full of original, tasty, and healty recipes. So without further ado: take a look at this amazing drink, perfect for Valentine’s Day!
The Hungry Mouse’s Chocolate Cherry Kiss Cocktail
By Jessie Konopa
Ah, love. Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays. Call me a sap, but I just can’t help it. (My dear husband, The Angry Chef, and I will happily be celebrating our 6th year together soon.)
Whether you love or hate the holiday, this Chocolate Cherry Kiss is an oh-so-decadent drink that borders on dessert. And it’s one of my all-time favorite romantic cocktails.
This cocktail is a heady blend of vanilla and chocolate liqueurs accented with a lavish drizzle of light cream.
The glass itself is rimmed with solid chocolate. The heat from your lips is enough to melt the chocolate ever so slightly, so each sip is infused with pure, molten chocolately goodness.
It’s the perfect, indulgent nightcap after an elegant dinner. Snuggle up with one on the sofa or in front of the fire. It also makes a fabulous apres-ski warmer. To notch it up, throw in some Goldschlager to take the edge off of a chilly night.
The Hungry Mouse’s Chocolate Cherry Kiss
For the cocktail
- 1 shot Stoli vodka
- 1 shot vanilla Stoli
- ½ shot crème de cacao
- ½ shot light cream (or milk)
- 1 shot Godiva liqueur
For the chocolate & cherry garnish
- 6 mini chocolate chips
- 3 maraschino cherries
- ½ cup chocolate chips (milk or dark, your choice), melted
Makes 1 4-oz. cocktail.
Step 1: Rim your glass with melted chocolate
Put a little bit of water in the bottom of a pot and set it on the stove. Bring it to a boil over high heat.
When the water’s boiling, drop the heat to low. Put a large, heat-proof bowl on top of your pot.
Toss the chocolate chips into the bowl. Stir them until they melt. This should only take a minute or two.

When the chocolate has melted, turn the heat off and set the bowl on the counter to cool.

Wait ‘til it’s cool enough to touch comfortably then roll the edge of a martini glass in the melted chocolate.
(Note: Most martini glasses aren’t heat proof, so use a fairly sturdy glass. Don’t try this with your delicate crystal.)

You want the rim to look about like this:

Set the glass in the fridge for about 15 minutes, to let the chocolate cool and solidify.
Step 2: Shake & Serve
Fill a cocktail shaker half full with ice. Add the vodka, vanilla vodka, crème de cacao, Godiva liqueur, and cream. Cap it and shake vigorously to mix well.
Grab your martini glass from the fridge. (The chocolate should be hard.)
Drop the mini chocolate chips into the bottom of the glass. Pour in your cocktail. Garnish with a maraschino cherry skewer.
Enjoy!
