What kind of strategy do you use to get a new business client or project? Do you handle it professionally, or do you take the wine them, dine them, 69 them? Do you seduce them into your professional web?

Many clients are naive to the fact that some companies will intentionally see just how far their employees will go for an account. On the reverse side, more and more clients expect a little extra from the companies they hire. This isn’t exclusive for either gender, but I have noticed men tending to use a wider variety of unconventional techniques to win over clients.

A man is more apt to take a business client to play golf or have drinks. They have the potential to become a buddy, share secrets or talk like high rollers in a small minded world.

I think men feel like a bonding procedure is necessary to achieve glory with clients. Budding up - or sucking up, mixing the two worlds of professional and private life.

Mixing Private Life With Business Life

Men can offer alternatives to mixing business with pleasure. They often attract a client to the occasional business meeting and end up at a strip joint. Or worse.

Then it is the simple email to a client sharing pornography or a sexist joke. For some reason, this bonds them into a sort of brotherhood. Which I happen to think allows the older client to reenact his youth and become one of the boys again.

Sad, but a lot of middle aged male business clients tend to hire the younger men while flirting with and charming women who apply for the same job opportunity. I did say some and not all. I find men, usually 50+, are more aware of how women have shrived to become recognized for their fields. Women have great work ethics. As long as we accept most of our jobs are going to be twice as hard as if we were a man.

Of course, if the client is a woman, men also seem to send the best looking hound out of the pack. Their approach is strictly seductive.

In A Business Strategy to Gain A Client - Just How Far Would You Go?

Where a woman may invite a client to lunch, she rarely feels it is essential to mix business with pleasure. Women are much more conservative when it comes to business.

Face it: men keep their testosterone club pretty much sealed off, allowing them to use unethical manners and strategies to land a business client.

I would say it is a sort of male fraternity, often found in the work force, that is still discriminating to women. This is often why women are not given the promotion or equal raise which, by the way, is discriminatory. Chauvinistic, to say the least.

Why this is still going on, I haven’t a clue. It is like men still have the need to feel superior to women at any cost. This is true for business clients - sometimes even in private relationships.

Maybe men have been pre-programed in the dark ages to think they are the designated bread winners and we should only worry about our figures, hair and nails. If that stand hasn’t changed, how can we call today’s age an enlightened one?
