Pole Dancing

I read a post the other day about a woman wanting to have a bachelorette party for her friend. Her idea was to have a lesson for pole dancing. My best friend called me and we discussed the post. She told me to ask my fiance how he feels about it, and she would look into pole dancing classes as her hen party for me.

So I asked him. Of course, he was curious as to what I thought about it. When I didn’t sound so interested, he encouraged me to do it. So I looked into it and what to heck - why not!

While I searched for pole dancing classes on the web, I realized that Sheila Kelly’s site was most inspiring for me. I had seen Sheila on the Oprah Show a couple of years back, and I was very impressed with her.

Sheila is an actress who discovered the S- Factor and has opened numerous agencies around the country. From what I have read, it is a wonderful workout and enlightenment of your sexuality. It is one of those exercises where you use muscles you didn’t even know existed. Fantastic for weight loss and toning!

There’s More To Pole Dancing Than You Think

Every article I have read agrees that pole dancing gives you a sense empowerment and boosts your confidence. You become comfortable in your own skin. Being comfortable with our femininity is important - besides, there is nothing wrong with being a little aggressive and taking charge over your boyfriend.

This is directed to all women who are looking for a great workout and building their confidence and self esteem. You are not in a class with real strippers or exotic dancers, just everyday women. The pole dancing classes are two hours long. You start with stretch exercises then a dance routine which consists of sensual movements with a lot of hip action.

The amazing thing is, the workout has been inspired by yoga and ballet. I’m into yoga already but ballet - well, that is an interesting fact. We all know how self-disciplined these two exercises are, and that you gain a positive body image when you practice them.

Pole dancing provides a great cardio and strength training workout. It improves your posture, poise, and balance, and it also improves flexibility. Everybody seems to be interested in these classes from all walks of life.

This Is For Us, Ladies…

Our little blog for women in business in no way affiliated with Sheila’s website (or business), but they do have a couple of things that are quite interesting, and I’d like to point them out to you.

There are cute little sexy clothes that you can buy for the workout. I really love the fan skirt! For footwear, you can choose either ballet slippers or six inch stilettos. Then I would have to buy the platformed shoes because I don’t own anything like that.

You could even buy a pole. I guess for the case that you become that hip on the exercise. Having one installed in your bedroom or exercise room would be wonderful.

It is an aerobic striptease class and pole dancing workout that does require upper body strength. The instructors will teach you the stretches and exercises that will help you achieve your goal.

You might be interested in knowing that there is no nudity - but you do learn how to strip. If you are comfortable enough, you can strip down to your bra and thong. Or just put on layers of clothes if you are not. These classes are focused on being fun and wellness. Building confidence, sexual enhancement and fitness. It is great for the body, mind, and soul.

Body Facts

As many as 500 calories can be burned in one pole dancing session. In time, you are able to support your entire weight with one arm and support your upper body weight with your stomach muscles. The good news is, you will have a refined definition and toning to your arms, thighs, stomach, and butt.

Pole dancing bruisesThis is a strenuous activity during which you will experience soreness and some burns and bruises from the frictions on the poles. Like anything else, the more you practice, you gain the strength and technique as to correctly position yourself to avoid any casualties.

I have to tell you I am really looking into it after checking out the benefits. Last summer, I took a kick boxing class and enjoyed that very much. I may just try pole dancing for a while, but afterwards at home with a DVD and my own pole.

Not to mention my fiance’s reaction. He seems even more excited about it than I am. Maybe because of the little interesting tricks I can bring home… I think we are going to have some fun with it.

In addition to my little analysis, there are a few blogs all about pole dancing out there. Here are two:
